casa mysterioso: the zombie dinner party
You are cordially invited...
...to dine with the dead.
The Casa Mysterioso Zombie Dinner Party was held this past Friday. Barring the last minute complications (A. couldn't get the iPod to sync up with the stereo, thus having to burn the playlist to CD ten minutes before the party, as well as my inability to count to six when it came to placemats), the evening was a stunning success.
Six of the undead attended the festivities.
One didn't quite make it.
We had a Zombie Jerseysite and a Zombie Child of the Corn, a Zombie Boy who died an untimely death and his Zombie mother who died of a broken heart. I was a 40's Zombie Starlet who was killed tragically by my beau in a murder-suicide.
Your hosts.
Daisy went as Zombie Petey.
Greeeeeenies.....greeeeeenies.....
We started off with a nibble...
..with a green (key lime) martini...
...or a glass of wine...
...and then moved outside, were the scene was set for the feast.
A pancetta-wrapped pork loin with fig jam.
Pumpkin risotto.
Haricot verts with shallot dressing.
The butcher warned me that pork loin is the hardest cut of meat to cook. As is my way, I hadn't ever made one prior to the night of the party.
It ended up smelling so delicious that even the ten-years-running vegetarian had a bite.
We rounded off the night with a flourless chocolate cake--
--a belly rub or two--
---and some zombie love.
Happy Halloween!
